The All-New Jeep Wagoneer vs. Chevrolet Tahoe: Which One is Right for You?

If you are shopping for a powerful SUV, there are plenty of interesting options. You might be drawn to something like the 2021 Chevy Tahoe, a vehicle with plenty going for it for sure. But what if there was something out there that's even better? If you've been holding out for the true SUV of your dreams, then the all-new 2022 Jeep Wagoneer might just be what you've been waiting for. Both of these SUVs are big, powerful, and capable, but which one is right for you and your lifestyle? Here is a comparison to help you decide.

Engine and Performance

While the Jeep Wagoneer and Chevy Tahoe both feature powerful, imposing engines, the Wagoneer's is more powerful. The Wagoneer's 5.7-liter V-8 engine generates 392 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque. For comparison, the Tahoe features a 5.3-liter V-8 engine that generates 355 horsepower and 383-pound feet of torque. The Wagoneer's extra power translates into incredible towing ability; with the ability to tow 10,000 pounds, the Wagoneer can handle just about any towing job you would want to throw at it. Meanwhile, the Tahoe's towing capacity tops out at 7,900 pounds. That's impressive, but still more one ton less than the Wagoneer's astonishing towing capacity.

Interior and Features

The Wagoneer and Tahoe both have eight seats as standard. They have similar interior dimensions, but the Tahoe has slightly more interior cargo space with the seats folded down; it has a total interior cargo volume of 72.6 cubic feet, while the Wagoneer has 70.8 cubic feet. Beyond cargo space, however, the Wagoneer really shines on the inside. While the Tahoe's only available audio system has six speakers, the Wagoneer has an available 19-speaker stereo system designed by audio specialists at McIntosh. While the Tahoe comes with eight-way power driver and front passenger seats, the Wagoneer has 12-way power driver and front passenger seats.

Safety

Both the Tahoe and the Wagoneer feature a suite of safety features. However, the Wagoneer has some excellent features that the Tahoe lacks. Adaptive Cruise Control comes standard on the Wagoneer. This useful feature allows you to pick a vehicle ahead of you and set the distance you want to keep from it. Adaptive Cruise Control will then adjust the speed of your vehicle to keep the selected distance. Adaptive Cruise Control is available on the Tahoe, but it does not come as a standard feature. The Wagoneer also has Lane-Keeping Assist as a standard feature. Lane-Keeping Assist alerts the driver if the vehicle begins to change lanes without a signal, and uses steering to keep the vehicle in the lane if there is a risk of drifting off the road. Once again, Lane-Keeping Assist is available on the Tahoe, but it is not a standard feature, meaning you will have to pay extra to have this very useful safety feature.
